Is SplitPay the Right Payment Plan for You?

Getting to know Eventcube SplitPay—what it is and when to use it.

Written by Trischa

Note: All Eventcube payment plans run on auto-charge. This means that customers' payment methods are securely kept on file and charged automatically on each agreed payment date. No manual chasing required.

What is Eventcube SplitPay?

Eventcube SplitPay is a native payment plan that lets customers split the total cost of their order into monthly, interest-free payments.

It's built for orders where the total price might make a customer hesitate. Think high-value bundles, festival weekenders, or orders with add-ons and upsells.

How Eventcube SplitPay works

  • At checkout, the customer chooses Eventcube SplitPay instead of paying in full.

  • They pay the first installment right away.

  • The rest of the balance is split into equal monthly payments, ending on the event date.

  • Their card is securely kept on file, and Eventcube charges each payment automatically every month.

  • Tickets and other order items are sent out once the full balance is paid.

  • If a payment is missed, it gets added to the next scheduled charge. If several payments are missed, the full outstanding amount may be charged at once.

  • If the customer stops paying altogether, you can cancel the order. Any payments already made are non-refundable.

Benefits of Eventcube SplitPay

  • Lower the barrier for entry at your event without discounting your offers.

  • Track payments in real time from your Eventcube dashboard.

  • It applies to a customer's whole order, not just one ticket.

  • No dependency on customer credit checks or third-party approval.

  • Every customer can use it because there's no eligibility requirement.

Things to keep in mind

  • The number of payments depends on how close the event is from the order date.

  • Payments are spread evenly between the order date and the event date.

  • The order is held for the customer until they finish paying.

  • You're responsible for setting and enforcing your own payment policies, including what happens if someone misses a payment.

Is SplitPay the right payment plan for you?

It depends on what you're selling:

  • One expensive ticket type (like a VIP pass or luxury bundle)? Use Deposit Tickets.

  • A whole order with multiple add-ons and upsells? Use Eventcube SplitPay.

  • Want to get paid in full right away, and don't mind absorbing up to 6% transaction fees? Use BNPL.

FAQs

Does Eventcube support Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) options like Klarna?

Yes, but not as a separate Eventcube payment plan. BNPL is available as one of 100+ payment methods through Stripe, Eventcube's payment processor. You can turn it on directly in your Stripe account.
