Eventcube SplitPay: All You Need to Know

Eventcube SplitPay is the payment plan for high-value orders that enables customers to spread out payments across their entire basket.

Written by Trischa

Note: Eventcube SplitPay runs on auto-charge. Customers' payment methods are stored on file and charged automatically on the agreed payment dates.

What is Eventcube SplitPay?

Eventcube SplitPay is a native payment plan that lets customers split the total cost of their order into monthly, interest-free payments.

It's built for high-value orders like multi-item bundles and orders with add-ons and upsells.

How it works

  1. At checkout, the customer selects Eventcube SplitPay instead of paying in full.

  2. They pay the first installment right away to reserve their order.

  3. The remaining balance is split into equal monthly payments until the event date.

  4. Their card stays on file, and Eventcube charges each payment automatically on the scheduled date.

  5. Customers have the option to pay their order balance in full anytime ahead of their scheduled payments.

  6. Tickets and other order items are delivered to the customer once the full balance is paid.

  7. If a payment is missed, it gets added to the next scheduled charge. If several payments are missed, the full outstanding amount may be charged at once.

  8. If the customer stops paying altogether, you have the option to cancel the order without returning the deposit and any previous payment made.

Benefits of Eventcube SplitPay

  • Lower the barrier for entry at your event without discounting your offers.

  • Track payments in real time from your Eventcube dashboard.

  • It applies to a customer's whole order, not just one ticket.

  • No dependency on customer credit checks or third-party approval.

  • Every customer can use it because there's no eligibility requirement.

Things to keep in mind

  • The number of payments depends on how close the event is from the order date.

  • Payments are spread out evenly between the order date and the event date.

  • The order is reserved for the customer until they complete payments.

  • You're responsible for enforcing your own payment policies, including what happens if a customer misses payments.

How to enable SplitPay in your ticket store

  1. Go to the Store Settings.

  2. Navigate to Store Payments.

  3. Enable Eventcube SplitPay.

Create an event ticket

SplitPay applies to any combination of full-priced tickets.

  1. Within your event, navigate to the Tickets tab.

  2. Select Add Ticket.

  3. Enter your ticket details.

  4. Under Ticket Pricing, choose Paid. Then, enter the full amount.

  5. Add a booking fee, if applicable.

  6. Save your changes.

What to do with missed payments?

As the store owner/organizer, here are your options if a customer misses a payment:

  • Cancel. If the customer fails to settle their payments altogether, you can cancel the order without refunding the deposit or any previous payments.

  • Refund. Issue refunds manually through your connected payment gateway.

Note: It's your responsibility as the organizer to manage missed payments. You can cancel SplitPay orders directly from the event orders dashboard.

How to manage SplitPay orders

  1. Open your event.

  2. Select to the Orders tab.

  3. Navigate to the Split Pay tab.

  4. Find the order either by selecting it from the Split Pay order list or by searching the order reference number.

  5. Select the three-dot icon on the rightmost side of the order.

  6. Choose whether you want to 'Mark ticket as complete' or 'Cancel order'.

When to mark ticket as complete

You may mark the ticket as complete if the customer settles their payments in cash on the day of the event or via direct bank transfer. Transactions outside of Eventcube will be managed completely by you.

Alternatively, you may cancel the order if the customer misses their payments.

Organizers' responsibilities

As organizer, you are responsible for managing Eventcube SplitPay. This includes:

  • Setting the payment dates for each payment plan.

  • Deciding what to do if a customer misses a payment (whether that's to cancel the order or get in touch with them directly).

  • Handling any customer communication regarding refunds or cancellations.

  • Communicating any significant changes to the event or a customer's payment plan directly.

Track all payment progress and cancellations in your Eventcube admin.

FAQs

Are SplitPay installments auto-debited?

Yes, customers' payment methods will be kept on file and charged on the agreed payment dates. Customers can also log in to the Support Hub to pay the remaining balance ahead of schedule. If no manual intervention is made, the auto-charge applies on schedule.

Note: Auto-charges will be authorized by customers at checkout.

What happens if customers miss a payment?

If a customer misses an installment, their installment amount is carried over to the next payment date. If multiple payments are missed, the total outstanding balance may be collected in a single charge.

If the customer fails to settle their balance by the final payment date, the organizer may cancel the order and refuse to refund the deposit or any previously paid amounts.

What happens if a payment fails?

If Eventcube is unable to process a scheduled payment after multiple attempts, we'll notify the customer via email and provide a route for updating their payment method.

If the customer fails to provide a valid payment method and is unable to complete their payment plan, it's the organizer's responsibility to cancel the order or get in touch with the customer.

When will customers get their order items?

Order items will only be issued once all payments have been completed. Until then, the order will be on hold with no downloadable QR code.

Does Eventcube support Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) options like Klarna?

BNPL isn't a separate payment plan on Eventcube. It's one of the 100+ payment methods supported through Stripe, Eventcube's payment gateway.

Organizers who want to offer BNPL at checkout can enable it as a payment method via their Stripe account.

Who can enable Eventcube SplitPay?

Only store admins can enable SplitPay in their store. Once enabled, both admin and organiser users can use SplitPay in their events.
